Diary of a Routine?

Perhaps I should ask the Flylady how I can stick to a routine when random events are just itching to throw me off. In the last 36 hours:

- The water heater went out.

- Daniel had another unexplained vomiting incident. I suspect migraines; before I thought it was post-nasal drip irritation. I believe this is the sixth incident in the last year.

-I now have an odor problem to solve in my bedroom, which is where he decided to vomit.

-Don accidentally turned off the gas to the furnace while we were dealing with the water heater, and today he can't get it to stay lit; the house is 66 degrees.

-I learned my drivers license expired on my birthday, and I've been driving on it for over two months. Things need to slow down here so I can escape to go renew it.

-Because we're thrown off by all the broken things, Daniel is going high as a kite on us; he can't deal with change.

-Rosey has decided to start getting out of her crib for naps. That one won't be so easy to solve; continually putting her back takes up a good portion of her naptime, meaning she sleeps too late and it messes up her nighttime sleep.

We'll figure it all out, but in the meantime, I'm irritated at the FlyLady for assuming routines are so easy!

And yes, I will try to find restorative time with the Lord today. I quite obviously need it.

I will be praying for you Miss Pam. I stopped following the fly lady schedule because I always felt guilty when I could not get the assignment done for the day. I got tired of all the e-mails too. My cleaning schedule now is flexible and suits my schedule much better. I will be praying for Daniel as well. As a migraine sufferer, I have dealt with the sickness to the stomach associated with those headaches many times. Hopefully whatever he is struggling with will resolve itself. Thinking of you today!

Hi Pam... I'm big Flylady fan, although I've signed off the email list for a while. I think, and I'm guessing Flylady would agree, that we need routines because of all the unexpected events and challenges in our lives. I've been "flying" for many years and I still don't have it down pat. But, I'm better off than where I began. After a very busy weekend I found myself with a messy house this morning. The feeling of being overwhelmed threatened to take me over. I honestly didn't know where to begin. Then I remembered to start with my kitchen sink! I'm happy to report that my kitchen sink is clean, the dishwasher is running, the washing machine and dryer are doing their thing and my crockpot is working on dinner. All that and it's not even 10:30 in the morning! I'm not bragging by any means, it's just that I'm able to get back on my feet and get my house together again because of all the help I've received from Flylady over the years. Well, my 15 minute break is just about over, but I'll be thinking about you today as I work around my own chaotic home.

By the way, we got a puppy two weeks ago and I'm thinking I may never have clean floors again!
